To exist in the borderlands is to live between worlds. My life, identity, language, and sense of belonging have been shaped by movement between countries, cultures, expectations, and histories. At times, those intersections make me feel whole; at others, they leave me questioning where I belong. Todo Revoluciona emerges from that tension, exploring not only the personal search for selfhood but also the social and political forces that shape it.

Through poetry rooted in memory, migration, womanhood, family, and cultural inheritance, this collection examines the ways larger systems-patriarchy, racism, anti-immigrant rhetoric, economic inequality, and other structures of power-become deeply personal. These poems ask what it means to carry the dreams, sacrifices, and unfinished stories of those who came before us while imagining a future for ourselves.

At its heart, Todo Revoluciona is a book about becoming. It speaks to those who live in the in-between: between languages, identities, generations, and places. It honors the resilience required to navigate those spaces while refusing to romanticize the struggles they contain. For anyone searching for home, dignity, or belonging, these poems offer recognition, solidarity, and the reminder that none of us make that journey alone.

Originally from Jalisco, Mexico, Angelica Mercado is a writer, artist, and community advocate whose work explores themes of migration, womanhood, labor, memory, and belonging. Drawing from her experiences as a first-generation immigrant, queer Latina, and former educator, her creative practice examines the ways identity, family history, and place shape our understanding of ourselves and one another. Her poetry, visual art, and public scholarship have received national recognition and have appeared in numerous literary and arts publications, including The Briar Cliff Review, Roanoke Review, Acentos Review, Cream City Review, and Glass Poetry Press, among others. She is the author of Todo Revoluciona, a collection that reflects on cultural inheritance, resilience, and the ongoing process of becoming. A recipient of the Sioux Falls Arts Council's Individual Excellence in the Arts Award, Mercado's work often centers on stories that exist at the intersections of language, class, migration, and community. Whether through poetry, installation, or public engagement, she is interested in how ordinary objects, family narratives, and collective memory can reveal larger truths about dignity, sacrifice, and hope. She currently lives in South Dakota, where she continues to write, create, and advocate for more just and inclusive communities.
