Roy Archer has lived his whole life in darkness. Running freight to and from the moons of Jupiter with no one to talk to but himself and his pro-wrestling action figures, the bear has grown lonely and frustrated. Then, in a dingy, fluorescent-lit chain diner, a rabbit walked through the door - the first to show him any kind of affection.

Sam Thorn has been slowing down recently. As a bitter, manipulative middle-manager still trying desperately to pick up drunk college kids half his age, the rabbit was losing his touch until that bear showed up in his life - the most interesting thing to happen to him in years.

Every two months, the men meet, and sink deeper into beautiful mutually assured destruction. They veer between tenderness, violence, joy, and fear, as obsession and unexpected feelings drive them into the other's path again and again.
