A cabaret in two acts, CLAYBOY is: Raising the curtain and lowering its eyelids. Sacred, monstrous, clinical, confessional. The earnest young devil your mother warned you about. Undeniably Gurlesque. Syntactically fabulous. Like drowning in a brocade ballgown. Intimate and uncanny. Already in your hands, leaking glitter and pool water.

Fez Avery is a poet and performer from Michigan. His work can be found in The Journal, Gulf Coast, Passages North, Tupelo Quarterly, and elsewhere. He is a poetry instructor at Interlochen Arts Camp, holds an MFA in poetry from Virginia Tech, and is currently a PhD candidate at Western Michigan University. He is the father of two cats and one run-down sailboat. Find him online at fezavery.com.
