Closer to Fine (1984 to 1997) is book 7 of the Whistling Girls and Crowing Hens Series. Lesbian lovers Jan and Bea continue to build their lives together. Jan moves up to the 'Big Leagues' of hospital PR in an exciting but stressful job. Mother Courage Press is thriving and they dare to publish Entity Jeni's channeling via a friend's New Age psychic energy messages. Seaworthy Women sailor friends sail together across the Pacific in a small sailboat and send Mother Courage Press their manuscript so Bea and Jan fly to New Zealand and later to Australia. More fun starts with a trip to guitar heaven in northern California, and at home, Bea starts a woman's kitchen band to entertain audiences and themselves. (September 2025)
