Following the events of Thrown to the Fire, Ella remains shackled with a conlút cuff, causing a domino effect of secrets from both themselves and the Elders to fall. With those secrets come consequences, ranging from small inconveniences to large-scale betrayals. While Lena grapples with the changes of no longer being Ella's protector, and what it means for the future, Ella is thrown headfirst into nightmares and her memories that have remained hidden for fifteen years. "The heat of flames licks inside my lungs, the smoke choking my airways. Fire is supposed to be light, a gas, and yet it weighs heavily in my chest. I'm made of ash and ember, unable to breathe. A part of me wants to succumb to the inferno, allow it to dismantle me from the inside out in an implosion. The flames could pour out of my mouth, leaving destruction in its wake."

Trouble in the Waters is the second book in The Senane Series. The book features found family, a hidden love coming to light, and kindness. Along with the good of the light is a darkness of heartache and anger that comes along with learning how and what Sierra began her ritualistic sacrifices.

Kylie came up with the Senane series when she was 16, a plot thrown together from a mix of a dream and the desire to have a talking cat who was her best friend. Never did she believe it would see the light of day or grow into a multi-book series.Kylie now lives in British Columbia, Canada, with her fiancé, Matthew, and their two pets: Bella and Salem (and formerly, Ally cat). After being diagnosed with Stage Two Hodgkin lymphoma, Kylie made it her goal to finish the story. Thrown to the Fire was published in 2025, and its success inspired her to keep writing. Five years of remission later, Trouble in the Waters was written in tandem with a few other series
