Junket
Can a shop really be classified as a business if you haven't had a single customer in months? Theodosia isn't sure. With a passion for ghosts, she owns a small store in Callaislouis selling supernatural trinkets and (although she's never actually done one) exorcism services!
By dumb luck, she receives her very first client; Alice, an overworked woman living in the slums of the city, working four jobs to support her little sister and save for a better house. She calls Theodosia when her little sister comes home from school acting like a completely different person (and breaking things, and screaming at the top of her lungs, and jumping out the window).
Things only go downhill for Alice when it turns out she has to go on a week-long road trip to un-ghost her little sister. With Theodosia, the annoyingly airheaded exorcist. And with Cherry, the rich, snooty bookworm who they have to take because she owns a carriage. And she brings along this other girl, Dorothy, to chaperone her?
Junket is a story for those that love a character-driven novel and endless funny, lighthearted (and a few heart-wrenching) moments. Not to mention there's a sarcastic ghost. Does it get better than that?
